Epoxy Flooring Fairfield, Ohio — Coatings for 1970s Garage Slabs
A third of Fairfield's homes went up in the 1970s, so plenty of garage floors here are 40-plus years old: stained, pitted, cracked. We grind that concrete smooth, fill the damage and lay a flake, metallic or solid-color epoxy floor, quoted in person at your door.
A Floor Plan for Fairfield's Older Concrete
Fairfield sits on the east bank of the Great Miami River in Butler County, and it grew fast: 9,734 people in 1960, 30,777 by 1980. The median home dates to 1978; 33.1% were built in the 1970s. Fairfield's ZIP code is 45014.
That shapes the work. A slab poured then has carried cars through roughly 50 winters, and its top layer is often worn and stained. Our crew takes on garages, basements and lower-level rooms and business floors across the city, from the streets off Winton and Nilles Roads to the neighborhoods around Harbin Park.
We start every job: we measure, study the concrete, talk colors with you and quote in person. Our crew grinds the surface smooth and fills cracks, holes and divots before any coating. Grinding the Surface Smooth
PrepWorn, stained concrete is ground or sanded smooth until what is left is sound enough for a coating to bond. Basement slabs get a moisture check before a system is chosen.
Filling Cracks, Holes and Divots
RepairDamage is filled before the first coat. Should a crack still be moving, we say so before any coat goes on; a coating can’t hold a shifting slab together.
Color, Flake and Top Coat
CoatingThe base coat goes down in sections in your custom-mixed color, with flake, mica, glitter or metallic pigment. A clear top coat follows; polyaspartic and polyurea are available.
Clean-Up, Photos, Cure Times
FinishThe crew clears the site, and you receive before, during and after photos of the job. Walk-on and drive-on times depend on the system, so ask us for yours.

Not sure which finish suits a Fairfield slab?
On a worn 1970s slab, flake is the forgiving choice, because the chips hide scuffs and grit. Preview it next to metallic and solid color in the Floor Studio, then let us look at the concrete at the free visit.

What a prepped coating handles in a Fairfield garage, and what it can't.
Salt Slush at the Door
Greater Cincinnati's official weather station averages roughly 100 nights a year at or below freezing, and road salt rides home on your car. Coated, it sits on top, ready to squeegee.
Hot Tires
Thin paint-on kits are known for lifting under warm tires. Ground concrete gives a full coating system a sound surface to grip.
Oil and Fluids
Oil, antifreeze and garden chemicals stay on the surface instead of soaking into porous old concrete.
Daylight Through the Door
Plain epoxy can yellow in steady sun. Where a floor gets daylight, we can suggest a top coat that holds color better.
Tired 1970s Concrete
Grinding removes the worn top layer. A badly damaged slab may need resurfacing, typically about $3–$7 per sq ft.
Clean-Up After Water
A coated basement floor can be mopped and disinfected after water gets in. It won't keep water out.

Fairfield Epoxy Flooring Questions
Short answer first, then the detail.
Yes. Epoxy Flooring Cincinnati works all over Fairfield, Ohio, on garage, basement and commercial floors, and in Hamilton, Ohio, the Butler County seat; we quote each one in person. Call (513) 434-8103, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM, for a free visit.
Typically about $2,000–$5,000 for a flake floor with a polyaspartic top coat (about $5–$10 per sq ft). That's typical, not a quote. On older slabs, condition moves the price most; crack patching typically adds about $25–$250. We quote each floor after seeing it, and our cost guide covers one- and three-car garages too.
Usually, yes; condition matters more than age. We grind the worn surface smooth, fill cracks, holes and divots, and check whether any crack is still moving. If one is, we'll tell you before coating.
Yes, if the concrete is prepped properly. Salty slush sits on top of a coated floor, where you can squeegee or hose it off. Concrete-industry advice is to rinse salt off garage slabs, because de-icers hasten scaling on unprotected concrete. Any slab that's already scaled gets ground down and repaired before coating. For the longer story, read our guide to Cincinnati’s climate and your epoxy floor.
Yes; eight of our Google reviews mention a basement floor. We check the slab for moisture first and won't coat over active water. A coating doesn't keep water out, but it leaves a seamless floor you can mop and disinfect.
It depends on the room; we'll recommend one at the quote. Epoxy carries color, flake and metallic effects, and polyaspartic and polyurea are available too. A polyaspartic top coat over flake is a common garage pairing.
That depends on what goes down. Polyaspartic and polyurea top coats let you back onto the floor faster than a floor that is epoxy all the way up, and standard epoxy is slow to cure when the slab is cold. When we quote, ask for the walk-on and drive-on times for the system you pick; they also shift with temperature.
